More Familiar Voice Actors Announced For Ryu Ga Gotoku 3

Ryu Ga Gotoku 3

Shido Nakamura, the Japanese fighter in Jet Li’s movie Fearless, and Shigeru Izumiya, the drunken man in the TV series version of Densha Otoko (Train Man), are the latest voice actors announced for Ryu Ga Gotoku 3. They will join the fairly big cast of voice actors announced so far, Tatsuya Fujiwara (Death Note film), George Takahashi (of rock group The Trabryu) and the models from fashion mag Koakuma Ageha.

FFXIII Featured In Famitsu PS3 Special DKΣ3713 Issue

Final Fantasy XIII

Looks like the latest issue of Famitsu PS3 is actually worth buying (it normally just a repeat of the Weekly Famitsu content). Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII are both heavily featured in the upcoming issue of the mag, which also has interview with Tetsuya Nomura, Motomu Toriyama and Final Fantasy Agito XIII’s director Hajime Tabata. More scans after the jump, full info soon, you can check out the summary here if you can’t wait.

X Edge: Rescue The World of Your Favorite Games

X Edge

For a cross-over of this scale and a game that will be out next month, X Edge (pronounce Cross Edge) seems to receive too little attention. Only Famitsu carries reports on Compile Heart’s latest RPG for the PS3 (Agarest Senki, of which the same development team is working on this title, was released last year). The latest promo video unfortunately didn’t help much as it reveals very little about the game. But since there are so little JRPG on PS3 these days, anything is worth playing. I decided to check out the two issues of Weekly Famitsu that has report on the game and see what to expect from the title that features famous characters from Gust, Capcom, NBGI, NIS and Idea Factory.

The Story

X Edge

The story takes place in several “worlds”, Underworld and Illusion World were the two worlds revealed so far, characters from the Disgaea and Vampire Chronicle are in the former while the latter has Ar tonelico and Mana Khemia series’ characters. These worlds summon and trap souls from other worlds and must be freed in time to prevent the world they belong from disappearing. That’s right, you will have no Disgaea games in future if you don’t save the Overworld souls trapped here. This also explain why the characters of these series are helping out.

Sony To Consider White Knight Chronicles In Chinese

Shirokishi Monogatari

SCET (Sony Computer Entertainment Taiwan) had a little event in Taipei last weekend promoting PS3 with a couple of games and Blu-ray titles. Chinese gaming site HiNet spoke to Sony representatives at the event and insist that Level-5’s highly anticipated RPG Shirokishi Monogatari (White Knight Chronicles is the official English title) be published in Chinese as well. The representatives merely promised to reflect the idea to SCEJ but with Afrika, Aquanaut’s Holiday and The Last Guy confirmed to have Chinese version recently and the fact that Microsoft is getting plenty of rep for aggressively translating their big titles to Chinese, I think this is highly possible.

I would prefer an English version but if the Chinese version came out simultaneously with the Japanese release, I will happily support SCET. However, Sony’s speed of getting Chinese version done isn’t exactly fast. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue in Chinese only came out three months after the Japanese release and we will only see Hakuna Matata (silly new name of Afrika for Asia) and Aquanaut’s Holiday end of this year. So it’s actually closer to English release than Japanese which make it pointless for someone like me who just can’t wait.

Asia To Get Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty In Disc

Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty

Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty had only been announced as a PSN download so I was quite surprised to see it listed at Play-Asia.com, turn out that the game “has been announced in Asia to ship as disc based edition” with a yet to be determined price (it will be $15 in the US PSN store). A check at the language and it says Chinese, if this is correct, my guess is it will be like Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction with Chinese as subtitle.

Sega Unveils Ryu ga Gotoku 3

Ryu ga Gotoku 3

Ryu ga Gotoku 3 is truly a surprise announcement for me in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu (although I’m actually more excited at Shonen Jump’s Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2). Following the magazine report, Sega updated the series portal with the official logo of the game and nothing else. This announcement came only four months after Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! was released, one has to really amaze at the team’s efficiency.

According to creative officer Toshihiro Nagoshi, Kenzan is really just a quick ideas and his curiosity in finding out how it feels to have the characters set in the 1605-era Kyoto. The game went on to sell 30,000 copies, which Nagoshi said is good enough for him to feel confident in making the real sequel to the series. However, PS3’s power means more time is needed to make sure the game looks great and Nagoshi asks fans to be patient before the game come out. More from the inteview can be found here.

Update: Nagoshi updated his blog announcing the title (he opens his entry by acknowledging the early Weekly Famitsu leak :) and says that the game will has the most content for the series and again ask fans to wait patiently for the game.

Go: Ryu ga Gotoku portal and Toshihiro Nagoshi blog.

Adel, Rozalin, Nekomata In New Disgaea 3 DLC

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice will be my next PS3 purchase (barring any last minute decision on importing Afrika) and I sure can’t wait for it, more so with all these news on the downloadable content (DLC) that Japan is getting. The new DLC includes Adel and Rozalin, both from Disgaea 2, as playable character at 200 Yen each while the third character is Nekomata at 100 Yen. Those who bought the characters will also be given a PS3 theme as a bonus. NIS also promise that there will be new DLC each month from now on.
