Trusty Bell’s (aka Eternal Sonata) Loaded With New Content

Trusty Bell

I’m still on the fence about Trusty Bell: Chopin no Yume (aka Eternal Sonata), it depends on which part of Q4 2008 the English version will get released (Amazon says Oct 21st), but I’ll most probably wait for price drop. But I have no doubt that it will be a much better game than the Xbox 360 version, simply because of the amount of improvements and new content that will be added to the game. Famitsu PSP & PS3 has a preview of the game, let’s see what’s new.

I’ve written on the new stuff recently, so here’s a little summary. In order to make the story more streamlined, changes has been made to the order of certain scenes and confusions cleared up. Plenty of new events are added in the process, and together with the new quests, resulted in substantial amount of new voice-overs.

This was noted by the assistant producer in the official developer blog, where he breaks down the characters that see the most new voice-overs. Naturally, the three main characters occupied the top spots with Allegretto and Polka getting 1.7 and 1.5 times more voices respectively. Another interesting numbers that he shared are characters that has the highest ratio of voice-over increment, March is the winner here with 2.3, Waltz is not far behind with 2.2 and Serenade is third with 2.

Other new additions include new playable characters (Crescendo and Serenade), new dungeons (two were revealed so far) and a brand new costume system that allows player to change the appearance of their characters.

While I must admit that PS3 lack of JRPG is the initial reason that this fall into my consideration, the game does looks amazing and the new content shows that Namco seriously want to make the PS3 version the definitive version of the game. While the Japanese version is selling at full price, I hope the US version will be at a reduced price to help me make up my mind about getting this game faster.
