The King of Fighters XII Screens & Details
The amazing looking art style as shown in the trailers during AOU 2008 got me really interested in The King of Fighters XII, so I was delighted to see Famitsu actually put up the direct feed screens and give us plenty of details about the fighting game.
With this latest installment, SNK Playmore intends to make the game more accessible to newcomer while keeping the main characteristic of KOF game intact, the 3-man team system from the first game is also back in favors of the multi-shift system. Let’s look at some other details.
Note: Some translation may not be accurate, I will update this post when I receive my copy of Weekly Famitsu.
TAITO Type X2






The arcade version will make use of the powerful and popular TAITO Type X2 board to achieve what Famitsu described as “ultimate 2D graphics”. All characters, backgrounds and effects are completely redone in order to achieve the smooth cartoony styles.
Ash Crimson




A returning character from The King of Fighters 2003. The green flame special ability is retained but she seems to spot some new finishing skills as well.
Kyo Kusanagi




The all-rounder is heir to the Kusanagi clan and a main character since the very first game. Famous for his trademark flame attack, expect more of his special moves being kept and Famitsu wonders what kind role will the leading man has in KOF XII.
Guard Attack






A new system that allows players to handle opponent’s attack a little more aggressively with attack-defense switchable instantly, not much details on this just yet.
Offset





Attacking at the same time will launch a special effect.
Wall Tension



Opponent pushed to the edge will become vulnerable to attack and player can launch combo.
New Skill

New finishing moves are being added as well.
