Test Driving The Incredible GT by CITROËN In GT5P Spec III

It may not be as big as Spec II’s updates but Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III actually got me back into racing thanks to the absolutely stunning GT by CITROËN. Weekly Famitsu interviewed Polyphony Digital president Yamauchi Kazunori to find out more about the collaboration.
The free update was available online since Oct 2 (for the Japanese version of the game) but thanks to my obsession with Disgaea 3 and extremely unreliable Internet connection, I only finally download it today. A Blu-ray version can be expected on Oct 30 in Japan, this will includes all the updates so far for new owners and it is also part of the new 80Gb bundle that SCEJ is offering on the same date.

Ferrari California and Lotus Evora are the other new cars included in the update but it is GT by CITROËN that Kazunori is extremely proud of, and rightly so. It’s the first time that a car is being designed in a game first and get made later. The collaboration started when Kazunori and long time friend, CITROËN’s Japanese designer Takumi Yamamoto, had a discussion about doing something big in future. With plenty of helps from CITROËN and Yamamoto, the design is done although actual production didn’t begin until last spring, of which Kazunori said jokingly that he threaten Yamamoto if the car didn’t get made, he will stop making games.

Back to Spec III itself, besides the new cars, the difficulty levels have been toned down and prize money increased to make it easier for newcomer (i.e. me…). Something that I just realized from playing the game just now. There are also a numbers of adjustments being made to the controls, you can find out more about the updates here.
