Monster Hunter 3 Jumping Ship?

Nintendo Conference 2007 Fall is now over, with one big question mark for those in the Monster Hunter world. Nintendo president Iwata make a surprise announcement that “Monster Hunter 3 tri” will be coming for the Wii, with Capcom quickly follow-up with a vague press statement for the announcement, reiterating their commitments for multi-platform development but mention nothing of the PS3 version. The publisher later removed the PS3 version from the upcoming PS3 games list and told Gpara that development on the PS3 version has all but stopped and all the efforts is now on the Wii version.
One thing for sure, we are not going to see a Monster Hunter game on PS3 for a long time, the “game” is almost constantly among the Top 5 in Weekly Famitsu’s Most Wanted list, I wonder how do those voters feel now that they know the game they are voting for never even exists.

Update 1: The game is confirmed to be Wii exclusive, with high development cost for the PS3 being blamed for the switch.
Update 2: The off-screen trailer can be seen at Gametrailers.com.
